Converse Collabs With Satan

Converse just announced their latest shoe collaboration with Rick Owens on 7/25. In typical mockery of the Christian faith, this just so happened to be released on a Sunday, a Christian's holy day. Owens thought it best to recruit none other than Fecal Matter to model the shoes and his aptly named DRKSHDW logo, a gender bending couple from Montreal that uses demonic imagery and fetish apparel to promote the launch.

Here's what Rick had to say about the launch:

“I've been using this pentagram for a long time because obviously, it has adolescent occult associations. But I like geometric diagrams like that because, in a very primal way, they are a culture's grasp for control. And a way to organize thoughts and systems. And a pentagram, in this day and age with all of its associations… I like the fact that it refers to an alternative system. And that suggests openness and empathy. It suggests the pursuit of pleasure, this pursuit of sensation. But one of the main things that I think it suggests is empathy and a consideration of systems of living that might not be standard. So that leads us to be more accepting and tolerant of other systems, which I think is a good thing.”

In case you missed the hidden symbolism, the models just so happen to be positioned in such a way that they form an upside down pentagram. If you're not familiar with this type of imagery, here's a brief history.

The PENTAGRAM was adopted in the Middle Ages as Christian imagery, taking on a meaning of protection, humankind, God and the five wounds of Christ (the nails in each hand and foot, and the spear wound in his side).

The PENTACLE is a star encompassed by a circle and during the 20th-century, both Wiccan and Neopagan groups adopted it as a symbol of their faith.

The INVERTED PENTACLE is the same Wiccan relic turned upside down. 1800s French occultist Éliphas Lévi Zahed introduced Baphomet the "Sabbatic Goat", a goat-headed deity with a pentagram drawn on its forehead. Anton LaVey, who created the Church of Satan in 1966, was inspired byLévi and adopted an inverted pentacle (sometimes seen with a goat head in the center) as their satanic relic.

So what are we to make of this? It's important to note that Satan will often take imagery of something holy and introduce confusion with something terribly demonic. Such is the case here with Converse and Rick Owens.

John 8:44 says this:

"You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

1 Corinthians 14:33 clarifies it further:

"For God is not a God of confusion but of peace."

Do not be deceived at what is going on in pop culture and fashion today. These global giants know exactly what they are marketing to the youth and are investing some serious money to suppress anything that is holy.
